On a whim, I decided to take my birthday off of work (it’s a Monday) and since I am doing that I decided that I am going to try and have the the best Matt-Day of all time. Here is what a rough draft itinerary is looking like.

8:30am: Wake up, Shave and Shower and pet Ramona. Probably will wear special-day clothes that may or may not be a corduroy suit.

9-10am: Go to Beth’s for breakfast, order GIANT Omlette and Hashbrowns and drink Coffee until my eyes pop out. Draw some pictures.

10-11am: Go to some place and get a manicure/pedicure. Feel Pampered, discuss gossipy topics.

11am - 1pm - AQUARIUM TIME. Stair obsessively at Octopus or Squid and ask oddly pointed questions about their habits to the staff.

1pm to 2pm - Eat a very expensive sandwich for lunch.

2pm - 5pm - I’m thinking of three hours of causing trouble and doing small things around the city that I’ve been thinking about doing. I’ll have to come up with a list. Probably some ice cream involved here.

Ideas:

• Pee on something from a great height.
• Go to Smith Tower and heckle something.
• Eat some Pie

5pm-7pm - Drink at Hooverville and Play Centaur.

7pm-10pm - Watch the Mariners Game, See my name on the Birthday Jumbotron, Get an Ichi-Roll, a hot dog, garlic fries, Heckle Jeremy Reed, shout at Red Sox Fans and so-forth.

10pm to whenver - Drink at Linda’s, spends lots of money on the jukebox.

I had a dream last night where Ang Lee and I were at a Kart track and I told him how much I liked the new Incredible Hulk movie without remembering that he directed the first Hulk movie, I told him I liked his new movie but couldn’t remember what it was.

He seemed pretty sad actually.

Like I know you care, but 9 tracks from Chinese Democracy have leaked and I am praying with all my might I can get my hands on them.

Man, I am so conflicted now.

Here is what I’ve been thinking about this morning.

–I saw The Incredible Hulk on Sunday with my dad and thought it was pretty good. I heard there is a longer version, but honestly, what I saw seemed like a pretty good length. I’m excited for what appears to be an eventual Avengers movie, even if I only vaguely know who the Avengers are.

–I watched First Blood..err..Rambo I for the first time in about 20 years, and I really, really liked it. I mean, he destroys a whole town for christ’s sake! I’m gonna watch First Blood Part II next and see how I like that one, but probably will avoid Rambo III, because as far as I remember it was one of my favorite movies when I was like 9, and I don’t trust me at that age.

–Been reading a lot of presidential race polling and it makes me uneasy that Obama is seemingly so far ahead, like where if the election were held today he’d win by a comfy margin. It just seems that something stupid is going to upset the applecart and life will seem really bad. I am excited for Obama’s convention speech, that should be a corker. All of this weird fear of being ahead is probably due to my devotion to Seattle sports teams.

–Speaking of Seattle sports teams, its pretty much the perfect time now to go see the Mariners (as they suck). Unfortunately, Jeremy Reed has moved back to centerfield, so my plans of camping out in right field and heckling the shit out of him have been destroyed.

I just watched a liveblog for the new iPhone, and its 200 bucks without a contract. I don’t really have the money per se, but I do have a coffee can, and $4 in cash right now.

I guess I’ll make a coffee bank and see if I can save up the cash by not buying random crap.

I hate you Apple. I hate you soooo much.

Sometimes when I’m sitting around thinking of ideas, I think about the movie Rushmore, where Jason Schwartzman’s character starts spouting off ideas and his assistant, Dirk Calloway jots them down seemingly to get the ball rolling on said ideas.

Anyway, yesterday I registered the domain name coffeeandpieindustries.com. I wish Dirk were here now.

Edit: So if I put 5 dollars in my piggy bank every day until the day after my birthday, then I can buy myself this wonderful new thing. Maybe a little less if I get $20 from each grandma.

They raised prices for no reason, but added an unlimited soup and salad option for $6. Travis and I both ate far too much Mulligatawny on this day, the 5th of June, in the year 2008.

In researching my own remake for one of my favorite music videos, of course, I was not the first, not even like the 10th, there are a lot of these.

Example 1 <– Kinda shitty, but the keyboard on the wall guy is good.

Example 2 <– Pretty good!, the level of quality I would have expected from myself

Example 3 <– Pretty bad, but at least the Steve Perry has good hair

Example 4 <– Again, not outside or near a warehouse of any kind.

Whatever, I’m pressing forward. I think I can make the definitive version,

I’ve been following the primaries for a while, I always like it more in the beginning when there are a bunch of fringe candidates that bring some much-needed ruckus to the whole thing (thinking specifically of Kucinich, Gravel, and Huckabee) but its been pretty boring and lame since around February. Especially since Huckabee dropped out of the race, as despite his being completely insane on social issues, he’s really really funny and it helps to have a funny person in the race.

I flipped back and forth between thinking that Clinton or Obama would be better candidates, and really its kind of a push in a lot of ways, with Obama only getting a bit of favoritism from me because of what I believe is his staunch belief that he would like to elevate the whole election process above some of the pettiness and pandering that goes on (Unlike Clinton who supports things like the gas tax holiday). I also am of the mind that having a Clinton/Bush 25 year white house combination is a really bad thing.

Anyway, I watched almost all of the coverage last night, and the differences between the three speeches last night was amazing. First, you have McCain, who is a good conversationalist, in that he can give a good interview, but his speech just doesn’t connect. He was also standing in front of an ugly green background, so it was more like a press conference than an important speech. Then you have Clinton, who gave a great, heartfelt speech, in front of a decent-sized crowd (filled with a lot of nutcases, it seemed) and finally, Obama gave a speech in front of 17,000 people in an arena, and completely (and let me use bold here) burned the motherfucking house down. I couldn’t believe it as I watched it, the end itself made me want to stand up and cheer in my own apartment.

Anyway, I have no idea how this election will go, it seems that McCain shouldn’t be able to stand up to all this, as Obama is telegenic and charismatic and that goes a long way these days. But, seeing all those people in West Virginia and Kentucky talk about their inability to vote for a black or mixed-race person, tells me that it’s a long row to hoe in order to get things back on track.
